Things to Do in New Mexico
Museums, pueblos, national parks and balloon rides, region by region.
New Mexico's attractions fall into two broad kinds. The northern half, from Albuquerque through Santa Fe to Taos, is about culture: pueblo history, Spanish colonial churches, museums of folk art and Native art, and a dense gallery scene. The southern half is about landscape, with White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, the Organ Mountains and long open roads in between.
Below, each region shows a few of the most-reviewed tours and tickets you can book online, followed by a link to its own page with local highlights. Walking tours and food tours dominate in Santa Fe, hot-air balloon flights and Old Town ghost walks in Albuquerque, and rafting and cultural tours in Taos. In the south, most visitors explore on their own, so the national park sites are your best planning resource there.
